Our working season 2011 started in March with a trip to Novi Sad (Serbia) to buy reed insulation panels. In May we realized the straw-earth infill of the upper floor walls. Then we insulated with reed panels and plastered with local earth material. We tested our earth crushing machine and were very happy with its performance. In August the eigth edition of the summer volunteer workshop took place. With more than 30 participants - many of them Bulgarian - we insulated the ceiling with perlite/lime mix, covered the roof with stone plates and finished the chimneys. We also prepared the soil for a future garden and continued re-habilitating the artificial pine forest on our property. In September we could put our beautiful oak windows and doors and apply a lime wash to the exteriour of the house. Covered and closed the house awaits the next season for interior finishing.
